Abstract: The Two Week Wait Referral Service (2WW) has been implemented as a means of fast-tracking patients with suspected upper gastrointestinal cancers for endoscopy. Whether or not it impacts on the outcome of these patients is unclear. The aim of this study was to compare the outcome of patients referred through 2WW with that of patients with oesophago-gastric cancer identified through alternate referral pathways (routine, emergency).
