Abstract: This article briefly reviews the history of the inclusion of culture within child and adolescent psychiatry. This history is a reflection of broader trends within medical education and psychiatry, more generally. The authors then present an approach for incorporating culture within the clinical setting termed the cultural sensibility model. In addition to outlining the model and its philosophical basis, they present brief case examples and a sample curriculum in support of this model.
