Abstract: Several imaging techniques are available which enable microchannel plate (MCP) detectors to achieve spatial resolutions limited by the MCP pore spacing. Without exception, these techniques utilize some form of interpolation scheme, which may rely on charge or light division, or electronic signal timing. We present a review of the devices currently available and discuss the merits and drawbacks of these competing schemes.
